How to take your Measurements

PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY! We would really like you to be happy in your purchase!
If your gown doesn't fit, you will be uncomfortable and you wont look your best. Most of our size charts are based on bridal industry standards, which are different from your everyday casual clothing sizes. Remember you will look much more beautiful when you are in a dress which fits you properly no matter what the number on the tag says!

DO NOT GUESS your gown size by what you (or your bridesmaids) usually wear, this doesnt work, and often ends in severe disappointment.

The size you order SHOULD BE THE SIZE THAT YOU MEASURE, not the size you want to be.
If tearing out the size tag makes you feel better, tear it out. Please understand that the number on the tag is only a way to find a dress that you will be the most beautiful and most comfortable in.

ORDER THE SIZE THAT YOU ARE when you place the order.
If you are planning on losing weight, plan on alterations later. At least that way you will have a dress that you can fit in to. (Trying to lose weight while planning a wedding or other large event is often another cause of disappointment. Be beautiful the way you are!)

PLAN ON ALTERATIONS!
Gowns are made in cookie-cutter sizes, however most of us are not... There are many alterations which can be done to make your gowns fit better. Many of our gowns have a large seam allowance and can be let out to give you room in the bust or waist if needed. They can also be taken in where needed. Many gowns will need to be pulled up in the shoulders.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS OVER BULKY CLOTHING.
Taking them over clothing can add extra inches.

HAVE SOMEONE ELSE TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS FOR YOU using a fabric or nylon measuring tape.
Or have your measurements taken by the seamstress that will be doing your alterations! Also make sure that whoever takes your measurements takes them holding the tape snugly but not tight. Dont leave extra room, as the garments are already made with give in mind.

TO TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS CORRECTLY:

BUST: THIS IS NOT YOUR BRA SIZE! Your bust measurement should be taken over your bra across the largest part of your bust. It should be taken with your arms relaxed at your sides.

WAIST: THIS IS THE ONE THAT THROWS PEOPLE OFF! Your waist is not at the top of your low-rise pants (they are called low-rise because they fit way below your actual waist). Your true waist is above your belly-button by 1-2 inches. It is the smallest part of your abdomen and is usually where you bend to the side many times just below your rib-cage.

HIP: The hip measurement should be taken around the fullest part of your hips. Many people find that this is about 7-9 inches below the waist, or where your wrist hits when your arms hang at your side. measurements
